Stigma. It's a shame.
Anti-Stigma Resources
There are a lot of myths about mental illness floating around out "there" in our everyday interactions. What we watch on television, view on the news and read in the paper desensitizes and stigmatizes the way we relate to the term "mental illness" and how we treat those who have it.
Stigma can make those directly or indirectly coping with mental illness feel powerless, silenced, uninformed and ashamed. We have every intent of providing resources internally and externally to those with this disease in an effort to lend a voice, tackle the unfortunate shame associated with it and empower our communities, families, and each other about mental illness.
Located here is a growing home of resources for anti-stigma which clear up any misconceptions about the disease. Each category enlightens us all on the truth surrounding mental illness, offers steps to take in an effort to better understand it from different perspectives as well as, provide accurate existing resources already available on the web, in print, social media and video. The goal is to hopefully, in the near future, put an end to the stigma attached to mental illness.
